LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran killed

Tamil Tiger leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was shot dead by Sri Lankan special forces as he tried to stage a dramatic breakout from the army encirclement, a military spokesman said.

Prabhakaran and his top aides came out of their last hiding place in a small convoy of van and an ambulance and tried to drive out of the war zone, but were gunned down, he said. However, the army is withholding an official announcement till a DNA test of the bodies is conducted. The Tiger chief was killed with two others, who are yet to be identified but believed to be his closest associates LTTE intelligence chief Pottu Amman and Sea Tigers’ chief Soosoi.

According to the military, the Tigers tried to evacuate its leaders early this morning in two vehicles. Army special soldiers of 53 Division have intercepted the vehicles moving north and destroyed the convoy after fierce fighting.

Tension prevailed on Friday night around the Madras high court campus as a group of advocates staged a protest within the premises. A police contingent entered the campus late in the evening to evict them from the complex.

About 25 lawyers had stayed put inside the complex till late in the night, raising concerns within the judiciary. Eventually, the chief justice’s office gave permission to the police to enter the premises to clear out the protestors. After repeated announcements through megaphones asking advocates to vacate the campus, city police commissioner K Radhakrishnan, along with a contingent of the commando force, entered the premises. A section of lawyers then mediated to persuade their agitated colleagues to leave.

Earlier, as fresh violence was reported from across the state, director general of police K P Jain issued shoot-at-sight orders against anyone burning buses and destroying public property. “I have issued shoot-at-sight orders against anyone resorting to violence and damaging public property,” Jain told The Times of India.

Strong earthquake rocks Indonesia

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 has rocked eastern Indonesia, seismologists say.

The tremor struck south-west of Manokwari, West Papua province, at 0443 on Sunday (1943 GMT), the US Geological Survey said.

Residents ran outdoors and to higher ground, but a tsunami alert was withdrawn within an hour.

The Indonesian archipelago lies over several continental plates where seismic activity happens regularly.

While the local seismology agency said the quake had a magnitude of 7.2, the US Geological Survey put the quake at a stronger 7.6.

Hasim Rumatiga, a local health official, told Associated Press that electricity went off and residents ran to higher ground.

A policeman said that without power it was difficult to check for damage in Manokwari, the seaside capital of the province, AFP news agency reported.

He added that the police and military had been helping people get to higher ground.

Ghajini is the Hindi adaptation of the critically acclaimed film Memento by Christopher Nolan, with the common theme of the protagonist suffering from anterograde amnesia or short term memory loss and seeking revenge for his wife’s murder. Ghajini will feature Aamir Khan, Asin Thottumkal and Jiah Khan in lead roles and will be directed by A. R. Murugadoss, who also directed the Tamil version of the film in 2005.

According to reports, the Indian Film Company has bagged the domestic distribution rights for Ghajini of an estimated Rs 53 crore. While its home video rights, overseas rights and satellite rights have been sold for another Rs 40 crore which brings to the grand total to Rs 93 crore.

President-elect Barack Obama named his science and technology team Saturday with a pledge to ensure that “facts and evidence are never twisted or obscured by politics or ideology.”

“It’s time we once again put science at the top of our agenda and worked to restore America’s place as the world leader in science and technology,” he said in his Saturday radio address, in an apparent offhand swipe at President Bush.

“It’s about listening to what our scientists have to say, even when it’s inconvenient – especially when it’s inconvenient,” Obama said, adding that government support had been essential for the greatest scientific breakthroughs of recent history, like the development of the Internet. “Because the highest purpose of science is the search for knowledge, truth and a greater understanding of the world around us."

Obama announced that Harvard University professor John Holdren will serve as assistant to the President for Science and Technology and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Environmental scientist and marine ecologist Jane Lubchenco of Oregon State University was his pick for administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The president-elect also named Nobel Prize-winning Harold Varmus, a former Director of the National Institutes of Health, and Eric Lander of MIT and Harvard, a leader of the Human Genome Project, as co-chairs of the Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.

How to play Left 4 Dead Co-op mode with Hamachi

This post is for the people that wants to play Left 4 Dead Coop mode over the Internet with their friends without a Steam account (using Hamachi).

Requirements:
Left 4 Dead
Hamachi
Windows Firewall has been disabled

For All the players, you have to do the following:

Enable Left 4 Dead’s Console command: Go into the game, go to Options > Keyboard and Mouse > Allow Developer Console > Enabled
Reconfigure your XP’s Network connections to make it detect Hamachi first. Go to All Programs > Accessories > Communications > Network Connections. Go to the menu > Advanced > Advanced Settings. Put Hamachi on top of the list.

Before you continue:

One person has to create a Hamachi Server and get everyone to join the sever. Ping your friends via Hamachi to ensure the connections are active between you and your friends.

For the Host (1 Player)

Go to the folder that you have installed Left 4 Dead.
Create a new text file in this folder and put in the following:

left4dead.exe -game left4dead -console -novid +sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 0 +z_difficulty Impossible +map l4d_hospital01_apartment

If you want to change the Map, rename the map value. To find the maps, go into your Left 4 Dead folder > Maps

Save this file as Launch.bat (it is very important that you save it as a “.bat” file). This will be the file that launches your game.

Run Launch.bat

Go to the next time and tell your friends to join you.

For the Clients (1 to 3 players)

Launch Left 4 Dead

Press the button “`” (top left corner of your keyboard) to get into the Console

Type in connect HAMACHI-IP-ADDRESS (For example: connect 5.111.216.175)

FAQ:

Q. For some people they can connect, and some other people, they’re getting the Restricted to class C LAN only error messages.

A. Valve is very strict in the way LAN works in Left 4 Dead. The first two octets of your IP address must be the same in order for the players to join, or else you will get the Class Restrict Error.

For example, if the server host has a hamachi ID of 5.111.128.176. Then all of the other players must have IP addresses of 5.111.xxx.xxx. If you have an IP address of 5.112.134.283, then you will not be able to join.

Unfortunately, it is not easy to change the hamachi ID. You’ll have to recreate a hamachi profile in order to get a different Hamachi ID. It is best to have all 4 players to recreate the Hamachi ID around the same time so you’ll get 4 IP address with the same 2 octets.

To Recreate your Hamachi ID, go into the following directory
(make sure you can view hidden folders, enable it in the View Option):

C:\Documents and Settings\***USER****\Application Data\

Delete the Hamachi Folder. Then Launch Hamachi and go through the mini tutorial to obtain your new Hamachi ID.

Q. I cant get the text file to save as a .bat file type

A. When you save the launch file, make sure you select File type as All File and put “.bat” at the end of the file name

EA layoffs hit 1,000, Black Box 'consolidated'

Publisher widens staff reductions to 10 percent, will reap $120 million annual savings; Need for Speed Undercover studio moving in with EA Canada, label will remain intact.

The day before Halloween, Electronic Arts spooked its staff by announcing it was laying off 6 percent of its workforce. Last week, it alarmed analysts by announcing--without revealing any specifics--that its annual earnings would fall below expectations. As a result, it was expanding its layoffs and canceling future projects.

Today, the company announced an expanded restructuring that will see EA increase layoffs to include 10 percent of its worldwide workforce. The 1,000 pink slips will be sent out by March 31, 2009, and will encompass the "consolidation or closure of at least nine studio and publishing locations," according to EA.

The restructuring will both cost and save money. After incurring charges of $55 million to $65 million as a result of severance packages and other reorganization-related expenses, EA anticipates an annual savings of $120 million.

Analysts blamed EA's troubles on the underperformance of several games, such as Mirror's Edge, Dead Space, and Need for Speed Undercover. Little surprise, then, that one affected location is Undercover developer EA Black Box, which will be closing its office facilities. (In an ironic footnote, Black Box's official site still bears the tag line "Growth...and lots of it!") The staff of the Vancouver-based shop, which is currently working on Skate 2, will be relocated to EA Canada's offices in the nearby suburb of Burnaby. However, an EA representative told GameSpot that the studio name will remain.

"This does not mean that the Black Box studio is closing," said the rep. "The studio is moving to our Burnaby campus to share the facility with EAC and other EA teams that operate out of our state-of-the-art facility. We will operate two distinct studios, each with their own distinct culture and teams, out of our Burnaby facility."

EA said that Black Box's expected move date is June 2009. The rep also said that the studio's games would follow as well, but declined to comment if any were being considered for cancellation. "[We've made] no announcements regarding franchises," stated the rep.

In the initial news release, EA also issued the following blanket statement outlining how it will examine each of its series' viability: "EA is implementing a plan to narrow its product portfolio to focus on hit games with higher margin opportunities. The company remains committed to taking creative risks, investing in new games, leading the industry in the growing mobile and online businesses, and delivering high-quality games to consumers."

Bush gets ‘farewell boot’ in Iraq

It gives fresh meaning to the phrase shooed away. President George W Bush ducked a pair of shoes hurled at his head — one shoe after the other — in the middle of a news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

Both shoes narrowly missed their target and thumped loudly against the wall behind the leaders. “Don’t worry about it,” the President said as the room erupted into chaos. Iraqi reporters started shouting what Bush later explained were apologies for the incident.

“So what if the guy threw a shoe at me?” Bush said, comparing the action to political protests in the United States. “If you want the facts, it was a size 10,” he joked.

The shoe attack came as Bush and al-Maliki were about to shake hands. The assailant — later identified as television correspondent Muntadar al-Zeidi - leapt from his chair and hurled his footwear at the president, who was about 20 feet away.

“This is a farewell kiss, you dog,” he yelled in Arabic. The crowd descended on al-Zeidi, who works for Al-Baghdadiya television, an Iraqi-owned station based in Cairo, Egypt. He was wrestled to the ground by security officials and then hauled away, moaning as they departed the room. Later, a trail of fresh blood could be seen on the carpet, although the source was not known.

In Iraqi culture, throwing shoes at someone is a sign of contempt. When US Marines toppled Saddam Hussein’s statue on Firdos Square in 2003, the assembled crowd whacked it with their shoes.
Al-Baghdadia’s Baghdad manager said he had no idea what prompted his reporter to go on the attack.

Need For Speed Series Coming To An End?

Like many gaming corporations, EA has been hit with the reality of a declining economy, and is bit-by-bit cutting back on their expenses. News has emerged across the net, claiming that EA’s Black Box division will be eventually shut down, meaning that future Need For Speed titles may soon see no light of day.

In a report from globeandmail, it is reported that EA has decided to cancel the construction of their new gaming development studio in Vancouver, mainly because of slow holiday sales and the decline of the general economy. With such a negative reaction to NFS: Undercover sales had slumped and according to the NDP sales for November 08, Undercover didn’t make the top 20 either, which clearly showed that it didn’t sell well. There have also been reports that future NFS developments have been canceled.

“These are challenging times, they’re uncertain times for our industry and across the board…We continue to be firmly rooted in Vancouver.” - EA spokesman Colin Macrae

He also commented about a number of staff reductions but chose not to go into any detail. At this moment, this news is still not 100% confirmed by EA officials themselves, but it’s an impending reality and also it is sad to see such a long running title come to and end on such a low note. EA’s Black Box division may have had the chance to revive things since the CEO’s plans to have 2 separate teams work on the game seemed promising, but now we don’t know if that may ever come to light. Microsoft Defeats a Seven-Year-Old Bug

Microsoft recently released two new patches, one of which fixes a security hole that the company has been trying to plug since 2001. Amazingly, no one exploited the hole during those seven years.

Previous patches had mitigated the problem, so Microsoft rated its severity level as Important, the second-highest rating on the company's four-tier scale.

This bug primarily affects Windows XP (which some 700 million people still use) and Windows 2000. For Windows Vista, the risk is only Moderate, Microsoft's second-lowest rating, and the bug affects a key authentication protocol for a network technology called System Message Block (SMB). Exploiting the security hole would let an attack program capture user or program credentials, granting a successful attacker full control over the compromised PC.

Why did it take so long to fix?

"[In 2001] They said they we could not make changes to address this issue without negatively impacting network-based applications.... For instance, an Outlook 2000 client wouldn't have been able to communicate with an Exchange 2000 server," Christopher Budd, a security program manager at Microsoft's Security Response Center, said in a blog post.

If you don't get patches installed automatically, you can obtain this patch and more info from a Microsoft security bulletin.

The second patch blocks three security holes in all currently supported versions of Windows: Vista (including Service Pack 1), XP SP2 and SP3, and Windows 2000 SP4, and 64-bit versions of Windows.

The flaws relate to Windows' XML Core Services, which let Web developers write Web applications. As a user, you may not interact with these services, but they're on your PC anyway. One bug (rated Critical by Microsoft) affects only XML Core Services 3.0. The other two (both of them rated Important) affect later versions.

Be sure to apply this patch pronto. If you have automatic updates enabled, the patches should arrive automatically. But patches want to install themselves at once, usually followed by a reboot. Rather than tolerate the interruption during a busy day, I have my system set so I can pick when I want to do the updates. If you're like me, or for some reason didn't get the automatic download, get the patch from a Microsoft security bulletin.

Patches for Firefox

As Firefox grows in popularity, white- and black-hat hackers are poking around more intently in search of security holes. In fact, Firefox 3 has had two different patch releases in the past two months. The latest, version 3.0.4, fixes four sets of newly discovered bugs that the browser's volunteer developers rank as critical.

The update fixes holes in the browser's engine, in its session restore feature, and in two network functions. All four vulnerabilities involve scripting; the only workaround prior to the update was to disable JavaScript, which would cause many sites to stop working properly. Download version 3.0.4 or 2.0.0.18 (depending on your version of Firefox) to get the fixes.

Sony's epic fail: The 5 major blunders of the PS3

Because a normal failure isn’t epic enough by itself. Sony, with the Playstation 3, dedicated to the art of fiasco, obliterated the competition by having no less than five huge mistakes, probably more, that kicked them from the head of the pack to barely limping behind in today’s console war.

#1: Grrr… Look at our big hardware!

Arguably, the Playstation 2 was at the top of the previous generation console war. The Xbox was just getting into the swing of things, barely sustained by the various Halos. Microsoft’s mammoth did, however, sport some slightly more impressive hardware.

Sony must have taken this personally, because they spent all manner of time and finance on the PS3, loading it with the absolute most ritzy meats and cheeses providing a massively powerful system, well ahead of the competition.

The only problem it hasn’t been utilized. Games on the PS3 look pretty much same as games on the other systems because, especially in the case of multiple platforms, the developers aren’t going to put in an extra thousand hours to make the game look worlds better on just one system.

It’s possible in here that developers will start using the impressive pieces of hardware for some really amazing things, but by then there’s a good chance that the next generation of consoles will already be out.

#2: Lets have a big fancy home entertainment system.

The Playstation 3, the system you can watch all of your Blu-Ray movies, play all of your video games. Surf the internet, listen to music, play video files of every shape and size. You can even link it to your PSP for more of the same purposes. It’s the ultimate in household entertainment.

Great idea, in theory. The only problem is that games still haven’t really crashed mainstream media yet; most people don’t think of systems as being able to do anything else besides play games, so they aren’t going to buy something they personally won’t use. Also because they view them primarily for children, most doting parents will purchase the cheapest product for their kids (Wii?).

Sony took a risk, but the market still isn’t ready right now to see video games and thus consoles as a form of entertainment accessible by anyone save children, so even the system itself is very likely only going to be utilized by the one who owns it.

#3: Lets make games into interactive films.

Many of the launch and subsequent exclusive titles have this really weird tendency to be very cinematic in presentation. Uncharted, the martial arts drama Heavenly Sword (massively underrated), and whatever-the-crap-it-is game Lair.(not so underrated). Generally speaking, they look and feel like big budget Hollywood films, complete with bevity.

Maybe it has to do with their home entertainment vision, but it just doesn’t really work with regular gamers (despite their attempts, that remains their audience). They’re expecting something that they’re used to, and aren’t thrilled by the result.

#4: Lets fight the wrong war.

Again, probably because of their home entertainment obsession, they spent a whole lot of time and resources fighting the war with HD-DVD, promoting their own Blu-Ray system. They won, in the end and kudos to them for it. Only problem they didn’t keep an eye on those sneaky Microsoft devils, who snuck into base camp and stole all of their guns and ammunition. Which directly leads into:

#5: Exclusives? We don’t need no stinkin’ exclusives!

All of this misplaced focus made Sony lose developers. Game creators all walked off right into Microsoft’s soft, warm, huggy arms and massive budget. Sony sat there, oblivious, praying that their super-powerful home entertainment monolith succeeded, eyes shut, covering their ears while their empire crumbled.

There’s a lot of overlap in games between systems, so the only particular reason to own one over the other is the exclusive titles. Playstation 3 has a few good ones, and they’re definitely showing signs of a comeback (especially overseas), but they’re nothing if not incredibly lucky that they didn’t lose it all together. Only the slightly unsatisfying gimmicky nature of the Wii and the crippling hardware problems of the 360 kept the PS3 afloat.

Pretty much all Sony needs to do to come out of this is to remember that the Playstation has always had success as a gaming system. If they follow that formula, then there shouldn’t be any problems.

Maybe Home will be as epic as they’re hoping, and maybe they’ll actually get a lot more exclusive games to sweeten the deal. Or maybe lightening will strike and people will start to buy into the total home entertainment package. Even if, Sony’s got a long haul in front of them if they want to catch up.

PlayStation maker looks to cut 5 percent of its workforce citing "sudden and rapid changes in the global economic environment."

Days after Microsoft declared the Xbox 360 outsold the PlayStation 3 three-to-one during "Black Friday" sales in the United States, Sony has announced cutbacks. The Tokyo-based electronics giant will slash 8,000 jobs and close several of its manufacturing facilities in a bid to save $1.1 billion (£745 million) by the end of next financial year. The job losses will come out of core Sony electronics divisions, though no official breakdown has been revealed. days.

As well as job cuts Sony is also looking to reduce investment by 30 percent in electronics operations by withdrawing from unprofitable and non-core businesses. The electronics giant also confirmed it was to close around 10 percent of its 57 manufacturing sites, with all restructuring said to be completed by March 31, 2010. It will also raise the pricing of some of its products to alleviate the impact of the stronger yen.

The cuts follow more bad news from Asian electronics rival Samsung which hours before Sony's announcement said it was to cut its sales targets and spending, after lower-than-expected fourth-quarter revenues and a drop in expected demand for 2009.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe did not comment on whether the cutbacks would affect the price of the PlayStation 3, which remains the most expensive--and technologically advanced--console on the market. When queried by GameSpot, a SCEE rep said only, "We will always carefully review and make structural changes, if necessary, in order to further expand and strengthen the PlayStation business around the world."

The Sony announcement reflects recent bad news in the games industry, which has been shaken by EA's $310 quarterly million loss and dismissal of 600 employees, and Eidos, which lost a quarter of its workforce in February this year (when still known as SCi Entertainment). Midway Games has also been hit hard, with a controlling interest in the firm being recently sold for a mere $100,000 to a private investor. Last week, the once-mighty Mortal Kombat publisher revealed $240 million in debt, $150 million of which it may have to repay in as little as 50 days.

Nintendo shakes its motion-sensing money maker, nearly matching domestic November 2007 sales in just 7 days; analyst says 1.4 million units sold in US last month.

Last month, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told Forbes that the Wii should finally be widely available in stores this holiday season. Today, a Reuters report suggests that not only have supplies of the motion-sensing system have drastically increased since last year, but demand for it remains insatiable.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told Reuters that more than 800,000 Wii systems sold in the US during the week of the Thanksgiving holiday (Nov. 23-29). That more than doubled the 350,000 Nintendo sold for the same week last year, and approached the company's entire November 2007 haul of 981,000 units. As of September 30, the console sold nearly 35 million units worldwide, and is the best-selling platform of the current console generation.

As for the DS Lite, Iwata said sales of Nintendo's handheld were up 20 percent year-over-year for the week, but did not provide exact figures. The uptick in sales comes despite the October unveiling of the DSi, a third redesign of the handheld. The dual-camera, Web browser-enabled handheld won't be available domestically until "well into 2009", but has been selling briskly in Japan since it went on sale there last month.

Iwata also addressed the worldwide economic slowdown, saying Nintendo has thus far been isolated from its effects. "When the economy is strong, people tend to buy three things from the top of their wish list," Iwata told the news wire. "But when things are bad, people often buy only the first thing on their list. Fortunately for us, a lot of shoppers put our products at the top of their list."

StoryLine:

Frank Martin (Jason Statham) has been pressured into transporting Valentina (Natalya Rudakova) (by using a device which prevents him from moving 75 feet from his car or a bomb attached to him explodes which was unkowingly attached to him after a car crash) the kidnapped daughter of Leonid Vasilev (Jeroen Krabbe), the head of the Environmental Protection Agency for Ukraine, from Marseilles through Stuttgart and Budapest until he ends up in Odessa on the Black Sea. Along the way, with the help of Inspector Tarconi (Francois Berleand), Frank has to contend with the people who strong armed him to take the job, agents sent by Vasilev to intercept him, and the general non-cooperation of his passenger. Despite Valentina's cynical disposition and Frank's resistance to get involved, Frank and Valentina fall for each other, while escaping from one life-threatening situation after another.

The Good

Intricate level design
Beautiful art direction
Platforming is entertaining and looks great

The new prince isn't a good leading man
Some combat and platforming annoyances.

In many modern games, you rain death upon your enemies; how refreshing, then, that your main task in Prince of Persia is to breathe life into a darkening world. That doesn't mean that the forces of evil aren't on your tail in this open-world platformer, but the most indelible moments of this enchanting journey are uplifting, rather than destructive. Similarly, the latest iteration in this long-running franchise is a rejuvenation for the series, and it's an ambitious one, offering up a new titular prince and casting certain game traditions aside in favor of player immersion. And for the most part it succeeds, eliminating illusion-breaking mechanics like game-over screens and long loading times in the process. This re-imagining comes with a few caveats, however, and if you're a longtime series fan, you'll quickly discover--and possibly resent--that Prince of Persia is, far and away, the easiest game in the series. But if you can clear your mind and let the game's magic wash over you, its easygoing joy and visual beauty will charm you into forgiving a sprinkling of flaws.

GTAIV PC problems spark gamer outcry

When it launched in April, Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 was greeted with a chorus of approval from gamers and critics alike. With the PC edition of the game arriving in stores earlier this week, the reaction has been notably different.

"Maybe after the patch... things will be different."
Forum threads on GameSpot, Steam, and elsewhere online are lighting up with complaints from gamers about a host of performance issues. Poor frame rates even on powerful rigs, short draw distances, crashes, and missing textures are among a slew of stated issues gamers have with the title.

Not content to vent on forums, disgruntled GTAIV PC gamers have taken to Amazon.com and panned the port with negative user reviews. In addition to complaining about the game's performance, the Amazon reviewers have taken exception to its use of SecuROM DRM technology. Of the 56 reviews on the retail site as of this writing, 46 of them have issued a 1-star-out-of-5 rating, with the customer average now sitting at 1.5 stars.

The technical support section of Rockstar's official site acknowledges a host of known issues. For instance, Rockstar tells gamers with Nvidia 7900 series cards that a driver issue is causing the game to not render anything in the distance, leading to functionally unplayable performance. According to Rockstar, "NVidia is working on releasing a new driver as soon as possible."

The Rockstar tech support site also suggests that missing texture issues could be caused by driver tuning programs, and includes a list of dozens of possible error codes players may have encountered. Additionally, ATI card owners are advised to set the game's "MipMap Detail Level" slider to "quality" or they will see blacked-out textures, while the ATI 1900 series specifically has problems with flickering shadows. A patch for the shadow issue is underway, according to the developer.

As for performance issues on high-end rigs, Rockstar's tech support documentation contained the following explanation: "Most users using current PC hardware as of December 2008 are advised to use medium graphics settings. Higher settings are provided for future generations of PCs with higher specifications than are currently widely available."

Regional Airline Academy shut down

Regional Airline Academy located in Florida has been closed. The students have been informed the academy is closed and the international students are given one week of time to stay in the apartments by the land lord. The instructors in the academy have been sacked. The instructors were not given salary for two months. RAA have to give 1 million dollar to the land lord... Only 4 of 18 flights in RAA is owned by them. Remaining 14 flights was obtained as a lease from the landlord. After one hour the students have been informed, the admin people got absconded and the institution was scorched. Out of the three of the RAA branches two(Arizona, fort Pierce) have been shut down and currently only one(HQ) is alive which is in Deland. Even that academy can survive for only two or three months. The big disappointment is the fees which have been paid till now will not be refunded. All the students are in the helpless situation.

StoryLine:
The story kicks off in Brazil where Banner works as a manual labourer at a bottling plant, trying to find a cure and learn Portuguese in his spare time. He escapes – narrowly – in an exciting foot chase on top of rooftops in a densely populated Brazilian slum, an interesting and exotic choice that makes a change from your standard Hollywood action movie locales.

Things must come to a head however. Banner must find a cure and he soon finds himself back in the States where the Hulk faces off against the U.S. military in a thrilling show-off on a university campus that may lack the scope of a similar fight in the first movie, but which is emotionally more involving.

This time Roth’s character has however been injected by super-soldier juice and is well on his way to becoming The Abomination, an over-sized monster against which the Hulk faces off in a no-holds barred epic battle at the movie’s climax. This final battle in New York streets replete with flying cars, lots of stuff exploding and fleeing bystanders actually outclasses the final show-off in the recent Iron Man by the way

Will Ashok Chavan be the new Maha CM?

The political drama over the post of Maharastra CM is to end as the Congress high command is expected to take a decision on his replacement today(December 5).

Even two days after Deshmukh's resignation was accepted by the Congres, there has been no formal announcement of who his successor will be.

The Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir, who accepted Deshmukh's resignation on Thursday asked him to continue till the new CM is announced.

Meanwhile, the front runners for Deshmukh's post are Ashok Chavan, Narayan Rane and Prithviraj Chavan.

A team of observers from the Congress party arrived in Mumbai yesterday. They are expected to submit their report on Deshmukh's replacement to Sonia Gandhi.

Addressing a press conference in Mumbai after the decision on his resignation, Deshmkukh said he would submit his papers to the Governor soon Sena-BJP alliance from power.

However, Deshmukh had to step down as CM in January 2003 and make way for Sushilkumar Shinde, a prominent Dalit face of
the Congress, following factionalism in the state unit of the party.

Laying all speculation to rest, the third head to roll in the UPA government is that of Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has been asked to step down by the party High Command.

The decision came after a high level meeting held in Delhi.

The meeting was attended by NCP Supremo and Union Agriculture Minister, Sharad Pawar and Defence Minister AK Antony, besides UPA President Sonia Gandhi.

A decision on the next Chief Ministerial face is likely to be made by the team of observers in Mumbai.

Delhi airport normal after firing report

fter an initial firing scare, operations have returned to normalcy at the Delhi airport.

Around 1 am this morning (December 5), two sharp sounds that sounded like gunshots were heard from outside Gate No 4 of the airport.

Operations were halted for 45 minutes during which the police and CISF swept through the terminal, but no proof of firing was found. The police are continuing to investigate the cause of the scare.

It was only yesterday that all key airports in India went on high alert following fresh warnings of attacks from the group that claimed responsibility for the Mumbai attacks.

The CISF and Ministry of Civil Aviation have said that it was not a terrorist incident and that no one was killed, nor were any rounds recovered in the combing operation carried out by the CISF and Delhi Police.

A massive manhunt has been launched by Delhi and Haryana Police. A Toyota Qualis was was believed to be the vehicle from which the firing was heard. According to eye witness accounts, the sounds were two distint shots resembling those from an automatic weapon.

The Qualis has been found abandoned at the Delhi-Haryana border, while the occupants are being sought in the manhunt operation.

Britney makes TV appeal to find new boyfriend

It looks like Britney Spears hasn't given up on love, for she has made a television appeal to find a new boyfriend.

The singer, who suffered a breakdown after her marriage to rapper Kevin Federline failed, said that she is lonely and dreams of meeting a new man, reports the Telegraph.

Speaking in a documentary, 'Britney: For the Record', Spears said: "I let people in because I was lonely and I really paid the consequences for that big time. I am very protective of myself. Sometimes it can get kind of lonely."

The pop star has vowed to give all her love to whoever that new boyfriend might be.

"When I really love somebody, I give my all. I can't get enough. I need to be around them all the time. It's just the best feeling in the world," she said.

Spears also admitted that she dreamt of finding a new man and living with him and her two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, on an island.

"That would be heaven for us. No one could get to us," she said.

Pak refuses to hand over 21 terrorists

Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari rejected India's demand that Islamabad hand over 21 suspects, believed to be in Pakistan, saying: "If we had proof, we would try them in our courts. We would try them in our land and we would sentence them." He said that he doubted India's claim that the sole surviving gunman, who was captured by Indian security forces, was a Pakistani. "We have not been given any tangible proof to say that he is definitely a Pakistani. I very much doubt that he's a Pakistani," he said. India had submitted the names of 3 most wanted terrorists -- Masood Azhar, Dawood Ibrahim and Hafiz Mohammed Saeed.

StoryLine:
Sonia (Minnisha) is kidnapped in the second scene of the film because the first has her sauntering for an introductory item number. Nevertheless that’s still speedy for a Bollywood film to come straight to the point. Kidnapper Kabir (Imran Khan) wants to negotiate only with Sonia’s father Vikrant Raina (Sanjay Dutt) who is separated from her mother (Vidya Malvade). He doesn’t demand ransom but initiates a game where he leaves cryptic clues for Raina through mediums like nuns and notes and wants him to resolve the mystery to reach his daughter. The cat and mouse game begins with each one trying to outdo the other. Kidnap has a smart storyline with well-etched plot-points giving ample scope to both its key players to take precedence in the game without overshadowing the other at any instance.
Director Sanjay Gadhvi strikes a balance in granting justice to the presence and performance of Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan and making his film a poised drama of man versus boy. Sanjay Dutt is cool, composed and compelling. Imran Khan is effective as the intelligent abductor who’s always two steps ahead of his opponent. However, the natural actor could go easy on his lip movements that appear synthetic at times. Minissha could go equally easy on biting words in her dialogue delivery.

About:

Need for Speed: Undercover is the 12th installment of the popular racing video game series Need for Speed, developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts.

Many race modes of previous installments are returning such as "Sprint" and "Circuit". Many multiplayer modes are also featured in side quests littered around the city in single player but there are no "Drift" events as there were in some other NFS games.

MAPS:

Undercover features a new "open-world" map consisting of over a hundred miles of road and a large highway system making it the largest Need for Speed "open-world" environment EA has ever created. The city is called Tri-City, and consists of four boroughs called Palm Harbor, Port Cresent, Gold Coast Mountains, and Sunset Hills.

Game modes

Circuit : You and one or more opponents race around a certain route more than once.
Sprint : You start at a certain area and race your opponents to the finishing point which can be anywhere in the city. It is otherwise known as a "Point A" to "Point B" race.
Highway Battle : You and another person race on a huge highway with heavy traffic and heavy police activity. It is similar to "Canyon Duel", a race mode in Need for Speed: Carbon.
Cops N' Robbers : An online mode of the game. You are either a cop, trying to stop the robbers from getting a package and dropping it off at a drop point, or a robber, trying to avoid the cops while getting and dropping off the package at the drop point.
Cost to State : This mode has players causing as much damage as possible by racing through the city and knocking over lamp posts, signs, barricades, activating pursuit breakers and even disabling pedestrian vehicles and police units.

StoryLine:

The game's story mode sets the player in the story as a police officer going undercover into the criminal underground of Tri-City, a fictional city where the game is set. Players take on dangerous jobs and compete in races in order to infiltrate and take down a ruthless international crime smuggling syndicate of street racers and car thieves. The player's only contact to the police is federal handler Chase Linh, played by Maggie Q. Another named police officer is Lt. Jack M. Keller played by Paul Pape.

A video shows the player evading capture from the Tri-City Police Department (TCPD). The player was aided by detective Chase Linh. As well, seven criminal characters named Carmen Mendez played by singer and actress Christina Milian, Chau Wu, Gregory "G-Mac" MacDonald (a former undercover police officer from the TCPD who's gone native, played by actor David Rees Snell, of the television series "The Shield"), Rose Largo played by actress Heather Fox, Hector Maio played by actor Kurt Caceres (of the television series "Prison Break)", Brad "Nickel" Rogers played by actor Lawrence B. Adisa , and Zack Maio played by actor Joshua Alba (brother of actress Jessica Alba) have been introduced. There are three other characters to note: Jonathon Cross is listed as an acquaintance to "G-Mac", yet not much is known about him at this time; and Isabel "Izzy" Diaz, one of the "Blacklist" members in Most Wanted, and Caleb Reece, the main antagonist in Underground 2, are listed as acquaintances to Hector Maio

Wii hits 7 million in Japan

Famitsu reports Nintendo's console has outsold the PS3 by nearly three times in its home country.

In its latest financial report, Nintendo reported it had sold just under 35 million Wiis since the console's late 2006 launch. That figure was for combined international sales in all territories including North America, Europe, and Asia--through September 30, 2008. The milestone came several months after the Wii overtook the Xbox 360 in lifetime-to-date sales in the US, according to industry-research firm the NPD Group.

Now Nintendo's plucky platform has hit a new sales milestone across the Pacific Ocean. Via its Famitsu magazine, Japanese industry-research firm Enterbrain is reporting that Wii sales have exceeded 7 million units in the island nation as of last week. The console's sales were boosted past this latest barrier by the launch of Animal Crossing: City Folk, which sold over 303,000 units during the week of November 17-23, according to Enterbrain's estimates.

The Wii's 7 million sales put it far ahead of its foes in the ongoing console conflict in Japan. According to Enterbrain figures quoted by GameDaily, Japanese sales of the PlayStation 3 numbered just 2.37 million units as of September 30, when the Wii had sold around 6.83 million units in the territory. Sony estimates the PS3 sold nearly 17 million units worldwide by the same date.

Unfortunately for Microsoft, the Xbox 360 continues to struggle in Japan despite massive marketing efforts. Enterbrain's estimate had less than 750,000 units of the console being sold in territory since its 2005 launch. Worldwide to date, the console has sold over 25 million units, more than the original Xbox.

The PlayStation 3 platform is now two years old, and the Xbox 360 has just passed the three-year mark. That means several second-generation games have appeared on both systems since our last graphics comparison feature. We're still seeing the occasional first "next-gen" development effort, such as Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, but many development studios are now releasing their second projects for the current-generation consoles. Bethesda, for example, has followed up on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion with Fallout 3. All of the additional experience developers have had with both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 means that the window for blaming performance issues and graphical shortcomings on platform growing pains is coming to a close.

The Xbox 360 had an advantage over the PlayStation 3 in early multiplatform games in our first graphics comparison feature because Microsoft had a one-year head start on Sony, but we saw the PlayStation 3 catch up to the Xbox 360 in subsequent graphics comparison features. We're at the point where games look and play nearly the same on both systems--any differences tend to focus on texture resolutions and antialiasing nitpicks that most people wouldn't notice unless they were playing the games side by side and pausing every few seconds to compare the two. Fortunately, we've done all of that for you.

The images have bee captured over HDMI with games running at 720p resolution, and enabled full HDMI range on the PS3. Each game has four sets of rollover images. The first image is a full screenshot set resized to fit the width of the page, followed by a zoomed-in image set that we created by cropping the original screen grabs to show you how the games look at a 1:1 pixel ratio. The third and fourth image sets follow the same pattern. Just mouse over the captions to swap the images back and forth. Keep in mind that these are large screenshots, so viewers with slow Internet connections should expect to wait a while for images to load.

Mumbai Under Attack

The great city Mumbai was attacked by the terrorists. Atleast 160 killed and over 9000 injured in this attack.

At least two Australians have been injured as terrorists attacked multiple locations across Mumbai, killing and wounding several hundred, and taking scores of hostages.

Witnesses, including Australians, in Mumbai have described bombs exploding and gun battles between terrorists and police across India's financial capital.

The targets included the city's best hotels, busy railway stations, police headquarters and cinemas.

Huge Sony info blowout!

In attendance at the Sony Computer Entertainment Staff Annual Briefing held yesterday in London, an anonymous source going by the alias of ‘Legends’ has just tipped us off on all manner of huge PlayStation news. We must make it clear that D+PAD weren’t in attendance, but we have no reason to doubt the validity of Legends’ claims.

Price cuts coming in March, PS3 performing better in Europe than 360
Our source tells us that SCEE President David Reeves took to the stage to discuss the current economic climate and how it shouldn’t affect PlayStation business, though was quick to mention that SCEE will be getting more competitive on price from March 2009 onwards. Our guess is that we’ll be seeing price cuts to PS3 around Easter to tie in with the release of Killzone 2…

Reeves then went on to say that the PS3 has a bigger install base than the 360 in PAL territories, and that the install base gap will significantly increase in 2009. Apparently SCEE is the success story of the SCE divisions, generating more profit than SCEA and SCEJ. 2008 sees it ‘in the black’ in profit our inside man revealed. Apparently there are more technological innovations to come for both PS3 and PSP, but details weren’t disclosed.

Growth of PSN

PSN will be getting much more investment in the future, and having generated £150m in 2008, it’s considered a huge success for Sony. Sony Studio titles will also begin their life with a Blu-ray release and the franchises will be expanded with online content.

LittleBigPlanet & MotorStorm coming to PSP

Our source also confirmed that LittleBigPlanet PSP is definitely in development and that Media Molecule have been working on it for four months. Footage was shown to attendees, though Alex Evans allegedly wasn’t prepared to show it himself because it was such an early build. “It looked good, obviously not PS3 good, but missing the level of detail that you get in a final release” says Legends.

MotorStorm PSP is on the way and ‘target footage’ was shown. No more details on that one.

Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 & God of War 3 info

A 30 second clip of in-game footage of Uncharted 2 was shown displaying Drake being shot at, followed by an explosion. No full title or location was revealed though our source tells us that he did spot a wall with a line of 4 or 5 Aztec masks. Don’t expect a huge graphical leap though - “Looks the same as Uncharted 1, no bad thing”, says our source.

The intro to Killzone 2 was also shown off which “showed the character from the original trailer and a Helghan leader”. “Paints a picture of the world a bit more,” says Legends.

Finally our source revealed that God of War 3 was “masterfully shown at the end”, and that it looked so good our source wasn’t clear whether it was CGI or not!

The trailer showed Kratos wielding his swords and fighting hoards of skeletons and Cyclops’s, before catching a ride on an eagle, and killing it when he got dropped off. The final scene showed Kratos looking up to a long dark, deep cavern, presumed to be Mount Olympus.

“Some of it looked like it could be in-game action because of the camera angles, but it all looked so good that it couldn’t be. CGI or not, everyone was pumped up by this. The anticipation is growing. God of War 3 could be amazing.”

So there you have it. Technological innovations inbound, PS3 price cut early next year, LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm coming to PSP, Uncharted 2 and an “amazing” looking God of War 3. What more could you want?

Sony patents sound-sensing PS3 controller

A recent Sony PS3 patent filing has revived rumors that the company is quietly preparing to attack Nintendo's motion-sensing Wii head-on.

While just a patent filing for now, the details include features and functionality that would be impossible with a Wiimote or the upcoming 1:1 MotionPlus add-on. For instance, the Sony controller uses the same break-apart design that surfaced earlier this year, but it adds in PlayStation Eye tracking and "ultrasonic" waves to track a player in 3-D space.

"Game interface tracks the position of one or more game controllers in 3-dimensional space using hybrid video capture and ultrasonic tracking system," read the patent filing, which was researched by GameIndustry.biz. "The captured video information is used to identify a horizontal and vertical position for each controller within a capture area. The ultrasonic tracking system analyzes sound communications to determine the distances between the game system and each controller and to determine the distances among the controllers."

The controller also fits together in a variety of combinations, much like the Menacer light gun peripheral for the Sega Genesis in the early 1990s. The original break apart PS3 controller design was actually unveiled in a separate patent filing earlier this year.

The Xbox 360, for its part, also saw its share of motion control rumors swirl throughout 2008. As of today, however, Microsoft has continued to deny the existence of a motion controller for that console.
